On the Footsteps of the Incan Emperor

Meet-and-greet at the airport. A personal guide and chauffeur will transfer you by private vehicle to the five-star, deluxe MIRAFLORES PARK HOTEL (operated by Orient Express). In the afternoon, take a private guided tour the “Poli Museum” (by special appointment only). Return to the MIRAFLORES PARK HOTEL. Accommodations will be for one night, including breakfast, tax and service charge.

After breakfast, your local English-speaking guide will transfer you (by private vehicle), south along the coast to ICA, Peru’s principal grape growing region. Here you head to the small local airport, to take a one-hour flight over the desert. From this amazing vantage point, you only have by air, there will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the extraordinary markings of Nazca, ranging from spiders to birds, to what appear to be landing fields for UFO’s built hundreds of years ago, before the age of airplanes. In the afternoon, stop to visit the Ica Regional Museum, which displays a fascinating collection of mummies, pottery and textiles. Transfer to the HOTEL PARACAS. Accommodations will be for one night, including breakfast, tax and service charge.

This morning, after breakfast, board a yacht, to cruise to the rocky Ballestas Islands. These islands are inhibited by thousands of birds, such as the comical Boobies, Brown Pelicans, stunning Flamingos and the endangered Humboldt Penguins, as well as being home to a large colony of sea lions. Having a large similarity to the Galapagos Islands, these islands are often known as Peru’s “Poor Man’s Galapagos”. In the afternoon, private transfer back to Lima and the MIRAFLORES PARK HOTEL. Accommodations will be for one night, including breakfast, tax and service charge.

After breakfast, your local English-speaking guide will transfer you (by private vehicle) to the Lima airport for the flight to Cuzco. Fly to Cuzco. Upon arrival, private transfer to the MONASTERIO HOTEL (operated by Orient Express). Accommodations will be for two nights, in special oxygen pump rooms, including daily breakfast, tax and service charge. Take a few hours to rest and adjust to the high altitude. In the afternoon, you will be taken on a private guided excursion of Cuzco, the surrrounding ruins and the massive Sacsayhuaman Fortress.

This morning, your English-speaking guide will meet you in the lobby for a day of adventure and discovery, during a full day private guided excursion to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas! Drive through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, stroll by the quaint streets of the pleasant town and proceed to admire the magnificence of the Inca fortress. Enjoy lunch at Casa-Hacienda Orihuela (by private invitation only), where the Orihuelas, a family of great collectors, will be your hosts. The house has a varied collection of popular and colonial art, ceramics, paintings, weapons, photography, ceremonial vessels and the ceramic bulls of Pucara. The environs include a forest of Eucalyptus trees, along with other native species. Continue to Pisac and thrill at the sights and sounds of the Pisac Indian Market. Here, you will have the opportunity to bargain with vendors at its typical market. In the late afternoon, return to Cuzco and to the MONASTERIO HOTEL.

After breakfast, private transfer to the train station for the 3 and one-half-hour alpine train ride to Machu Picchu, “Hiram Bingham Train Service”, operated by Orient Express. During your Peru-rail adventure, lunch will be served while you admire the beautiful scenery that the lands have to offer. Upon arrival in Machu Picchu, take a private guided tour of the ancient Incan city. Lunch is included at the SANCTUARY LODGE. Accommodations will be at the SANCTUARY LODGE (operated by Orient Express) for one night, including all meals, tax and service charge. The evening is at leisure to admire the beautiful Incan sunset.

Dawn in Machu Picchu is PURE magic! Partake in the Inca celebration of life and energy! After breakfast, you will be taken on a private guided tour of the ruins. In the afternoon, board the “Hiram Bingham Train” train back to Cuzco. During the ride back to Cuzco, there will be a dinner and folkloric show, presented by the natives of Cuzco. Private transfer to the MONASTERIO HOTEL. Accommodations will be for one night in special oxygen pump rooms, including breakfast, tax and service charge.

This morning, after breakfast, private transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima. Fly to Lima. Upon arrival, private transfer to the MIRAFLORES PARK HOTEL, for the use of a “day room”. In the afternoon, you will be taken on a private guided tour of colonial and modern Lima. Enjoy a visit to the famous Gold Museum, if time permits. Evening private tranfser to the airport in time for your flight back home. End of services.
