On the Footsteps of Incan Emperors

Meet-and-greet at the airport. A personal guide and chauffeur will transfer you by private vehicle to the five-star, ocean-view JW MARRIOTT HOTEL. In the afternoon, take a private guided tour the “Gold Museum” (or similar). Return to the JW MARRIOTT HOTEL. Accommodations will be for one night, including breakfast, tax and service charge.

Private transfer to the airport for the flight to Iquitos, in the vast Amazon Basin. Reception at the airport, brief city orientation and transfer to the Explorama dock. You will then take a twenty-five mile journey down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops where private rooms with air-conditioning and hot water provide all of the comforts of home. There will be an afternoon hike in the beautiful primary rainforest reserve surrounding Ceiba Tops which includes many large trees festooned with epiphytes. After dinner there may be local flute or guitar music at the El Toucan Bar or the guides are always ready to relate some of the many legends of the Amazon forest. Accommodations will be for three nights, including all meals, jungle excursions, tax and service charge.

This morning, take a boat ride to visit a small village of Yagua Indians where your guide will explain the Yagua Indian culture and how it was affected by the arrival of Europeans and the passing of time. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the local crafts and for a demonstration of the blowgun which some of the Yagua elders still use for hunting. Afternoon walking excursion to the neighboring town of Indiana. Originally a Franciscan mission, Indiana has grown into a large river community with its own market, high school and small hospital. Dinner will be served back at the lodge.

Early morning departure from Ceiba Tops by boat to the narrow motorcar crossing connecting the Amazon and Napo Rivers. Continue by boat to ExplorNapo Lodge for breakfast. Hike to the spectacular Canopy Walkway spanning over 500 meters (one-third of a mile), connected by tree platforms, and reaching a height of over 35 meters (115 feet) but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment. After lunch, visit the "ReNuPeRu" Ethno botanical Garden where over 240 medicinal plants are cultivated by a local shaman who will explain the nature of Amazonian natural healing and the uses of some of the plants. Return to Ceiba Tops in time to enjoy the pool or hammocks before dinner.

Your choice of a morning walk or boating excursion to further enjoy the rainforest and Amazon River. Afternoon transfer to the Iquitos airport. Assistance with the check-in for the departure flight. Fly to Lima and connect with a flight to Cuzco.
Upon arrival in Cuzco, private transfer to the LIBERTADOR HOTEL. Accommodations will be for one night, including breakfast, tax and service charge. Take a few hours to rest and adjust to the high altitude. In the afternoon, you will be taken on a private guided excursion of Cuzco, the surrrounding ruins and the massive Sacsayhuaman Fortress.

After breakfast, private transfer to the train station for the 3 and one-half-hour alpine train ride to Machu Picchu, “Vistadome Service”. During your Peru-rail adventure, lunch will be served while you admire the beautiful scenery that the lands have to offer. Upon arrival in Machu Picchu, take a private guided tour of the ancient Incan city. Lunch is included at the SANCTUARY LODGE. Accommodations will be at the MACHU PICCHU PUEBLO HOTEL for one night, including all meals, tax and service charge. The evening is at leisure to admire the beautiful Incan sunset.

Dawn in Machu Picchu is PURE magic! Partake in the Inca celebration of life and energy! After breakfast, you will be taken on a private guided tour of the ruins. In the afternoon, board the “Vista Dome” train back to Cuzco. During the ride back to Cuzco. Upon arrival in Cuzco, private transfer to the LIBERTADOR HOTEL. Accommodations will be for one night, including breakfast, tax and service charge.
Tonight, you can experience a special dinner and folkloric show at the “Tunupa Restaurant” in Cuzco.

This morning, after breakfast, private transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima. Fly to Lima. Upon arrival, private transfer to the Lima JW MARRIOTT HOTEL, for the use of a “day room”. In the afternoon, you will be taken on a private guided tour of colonial and modern Lima. Enjoy a private guided tour of modern and colonial Lima, if time permits. Evening private tranfser to the airport in time for your flight back home. End of services.
